20th Anniversary – ASH Minority Recruitment Initiative (MRI)
The American Society of Hematology (ASH) provides more than $12 million in career development and training awards to early- and mid-career hematologists. These invaluable awards provide support to trainees who seek hematology-focused research experience, funding, mentorship, and other benefits.
For 20 years, through the ASH Minority Recruitment Initiative (MRI), the Society has continuously worked to increase the participation of trainees in hematology-related fields and to increase the number of minority hematologists with academic and research appointments.
Apply for the following MRI awards by their January 16 deadlines:
- The ASH Minority Medical Student Award Program (MMSAP) provides support and offers mentored introductory biomedical research experience to medical students. Make sure to request a mentor by October 15; this is a required step in the application process.
- The ASH Minority Resident Hematology Award Program (MRHAP) provides support for resident physicians in an internal medicine, pathology, or pediatric residency program to conduct hematology-focused research. Make sure to request a mentor by October 15; this is a required step in the application process.
