Project description: The research project investigates the role of iron in the development of

pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a chronic and severe cardiopulmonary disease that

results in heart failure and death. Iron deficiency is associated with worse PAH clinical

outcomes, and treatment has been shown to improve exercise tolerance and quality of life, but

the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. We are a medium-large biomedical research

laboratory interested in iron homeostasis and its disorders, and have a dynamic team of faculty

members, postdocs, graduate students, and staff.


Eligibility: The applicant should have a Bachelors’ degree in Biological Sciences or a related

field, as well a minimum of 2 years of prior laboratory experience. The applicant should have

demonstrated proficiency in routine laboratory techniques, including Western blots, ELISA, IHC,

flow cytometry, colorimetry assays, RT-PCR, microscopy, and cell culture.
