We are pleased to open the registration and abstract submission at this time for our virtual EWIC platform on October 15-16, 2020. Please see information below and attached. All this information is redundantly available on the website.
This year, we are obligated to modify the program from our multiple roundtable discussion format in light of the virtual nature of the meeting. However, we aim to still have a key note address (Thursday, October 15, 2020) which this year will be given by Elizabeta Nemeth, PhD. In addition, we will venture a single virtual roundtable discussion following the key note address (Thursday, October 15, 2020). The meeting on Friday, October 16, 2020 will include a series of short presentations by trainees. Please find more details in the preliminary program attached. Furthermore, all the information regarding this year’s meeting has been added to the website (http://eastwestironclub.org) thanks to Bryan Mackenzie.
Meeting participation is free as always. Registration is required to obtain the Zoom link and password. To register, please complete and submit by October 1, 2020 at:

The meeting will be held on Zoom for which link and password will be provided within days of the meeting to registered participants. Presenters will be asked to share their screen and good audio is critical to make effective presentations possible. To enable, please prepare a quiet and comfortable space with consistent internet access and appropriate headphone and microphone capabilities (as needed).
If you are planning to present your work, please submit an abstract. We are not certain if we will have time for faculty and industry presentations; this will depend on how many trainee abstracts we receive. As a consequence, feel free to put forth as many trainees as possible to present the work from your lab. We will only be able to determine length of presentations depending on the number of abstracts we receive. We anticipate 10-12 minutes per presentation with 3-5 minutes for questions.
Abstract submission: Please submit a maximum of 200 word abstract by completing the form attached and sending by email to email@example.com. The abstract submission deadline is Friday, September 18, 2020. As usual, the meeting is broadly focused on basic, translational, and clinical science effort in the iron field. As in past years, the presentations by trainees will be judged and the best selected for achievement awards.
Finally, Caroline Enns, PhD has graciously agreed to host a meeting in 2021, assuming that an in-person meeting will be more realistic at that time. More details about future meetings will be discussed at the business meeting on Friday, October 16, 2020 following the presentations and announcement of awards.
Looking forward to your engagement in this atypical year’s meeting!
